In the heart of a tall, whispering forest lived a tiny squirrel named Nibbles. Nibbles had the fluffiest tail and the brightest eyes, but he was also the smallest squirrel in his whole tree.

Every day, the older squirrels would leap from branch to branch, storing nuts and racing the wind. Nibbles watched from below, wishing he could be as brave as they were.

One crisp autumn morning, a strong wind blew through the forest. The leaves danced through the air, and a terrible whoosh shook the treetops. Mama Bluebird’s nest, perched high in the tallest oak, tumbled and tipped—until plop! one of her eggs rolled out and landed in the crook of a faraway branch.

All the animals gasped. “Oh no! That egg is too far!” cried the rabbits.

“It’s too high!” squeaked the mice.

But not Nibbles. His heart thumped like a drum. He took a deep breath, puffed out his tiny chest, and shouted, “I’ll get it!”

Up, up, up he climbed—past the twisty vines, the chirping chipmunks, and the sleepy owls. The wind tugged at his tail, but he didn’t stop. When he reached the faraway branch, he carefully wrapped his arms around the egg and slowly inched his way back.

Below, the animals held their breath.

At last, Nibbles reached Mama Bluebird’s tree. He gently placed the egg back in her nest, and she chirped with joy.

From that day on, Nibbles wasn’t just the smallest squirrel in the tree—he was the bravest.

And every autumn, when the wind starts to blow, the forest animals tell the tale of the brave little squirrel who saved the day.

The End.

Moral of the Story:

You don’t have to be big to be brave. Even the smallest among us can do great things with courage and kindness.
